The Journey

I fell in love with performing when I was a “little duck” in my first dance recital at age 3. I loved performing onstage and spent countless hours working hard to improve, both in the studio and at home. I became obsessed with perfecting my technique and rigorously corrected every mistake.

My passion for dance evolved into a love for theatre in my freshman year of high school. The community of people I met in that troupe showed me love and acceptance that I had never known before. They loved me even when I made mistakes.

Theatre taught me that the process matters more than the product, especially in education. Creating art while building community was a life-changing experience, unlike anything I had ever done before.

I am currently attending the University of Houston, where I am majoring in Theatre Education and minoring in Dance and Leadership Studies. I pursue this degree in the hope that I can give back to the theatrical community that showed me how to truly be myself.

My love for the performing arts grows every single day, and I’m very excited to share the joy of creative expression with my students and help them find a place where they belong!

Teaching Philosophy

Creative Expression - Collaboration - Access - Growth

As an educator, I believe that every student deserves access to a creative outlet, as it is essential for personal growth. Theatre provides an ideal space for students to explore different people’s experiences and perspectives, fostering an empathetic environment. I view my role as a facilitator of that exploration, guiding students to build confidence, develop their unique voices, and discover the power of creativity.

I also believe in integrating STEM Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) into theatre lessons. This supports not only artistic growth but also academic development in literacy, communication, and critical thinking. These skills are essential to a well-rounded education.

Collaboration is another cornerstone of theatre education. I actively seek to partner with other arts programs within the school, recognizing that this intersection creates an environment rich in creative possibilities. By collaborating across disciplines, we enrich students' artistic experiences while encouraging teamwork and mutual respect.

Equally important is the commitment to accessibility in education. To me, this means adapting lessons to meet diverse learning needs and ensuring that every student can thrive in the arts.

Creativity is essential to human development, and all students, regardless of their background or ability, should have the opportunity to experience the joy and growth that comes from the arts. I strive to create an inclusive and inspiring learning environment where every student can discover their creative potential.
